My Morning Routine

This post is sponsored by Senita Athletics.
All pictures/opinions are my own ((and there is a discount code at the end of the post!))

My morning routine looks something like this:
Half-wake up when Eddie leaves and gives me a kiss, fully wake up an hour or so later, stretch while praying, take 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, drink a big glass of water, throw my clothes/shoes on, start a podcast and head out the front door.
I’ve found that if I start my day off with movement, it will carry on throughout my day.
The crip air paired with some encouraging words brings my mind and body to this level of alertness that I just can’t get from staying inside before tackling my tasks.
The last few weeks I’ve been listening to Jenna Kutcher’s Goal Digger during my morning steps.
With creating new blog content and trying to get my etsy shop up and running along with my photography business  I’ve found myself a smidge overwhelmed and not really sure where to start.
At the church I attended in Charleston the pastor always said “leaders are readers”.
I truly believe that; I also believe leaders are listeners.
So carving out time each day to be intentional in taking a few minutes to listen to something that is educational and good for business and creativity – it just seems smart.

I remember in college reading something about how your brain retains more information during/after an exercise.
Maybe that was a ploy to get college students moving more and making healthier choices; but it has always rung true with me.
I feel most inspired when I’m out walking or when I’m putting in time at the gym.
The blood is flowing and so is the creativity.
If you were to open the notes app on my iPhone right now you would see lists of different ideas.

One of my main ideas, or focus, I should say is making better choices.
Choices like: spending more time in the Word and with Jesus, eating healthier foods, exercising more, investing in people, etc.
A key feature of those choices is choosing quality over quantity.
Eddie & I have been talking about how we want to start going to local butcher shops for meat and getting produce from the places that sell from local farmers.
We want to choose well – not just choose.
So that’s where I am right now – starting my mornings off right and developing a schedule all while trying to make better choices.
Whew.
We’re getting there friends!
How do you start your days and what choices are you making to better your own life?

Maine Home | Entry

This place is starting to feel like home.
I continue to find out how hard it can be to put a personal stamp on a rental property.
When I walk through the front door I want our home to feel comfortable, inviting, and cozy; which is challenging to do when you can’t paint the walls and have school tile flooring. Eddie and I love crisp details, wood tones, and bright/moody color pallets that envelope you. There were three must-haves for this space: a mirror, a rug, and sturdy coat hangers.

Would you like to learn one thing I’ve learned since moving up north during the winter?
Outside is messy, which I love. What I don’t love is when you bring that mess inside – especially when it’s snow/mud slush that gets all caked into your entry way rug and is a pain in the butt to get out. Enter Lorena Canals washable rugs, yes washable rugs.
They use non-toxic dies and 100% cotton fabric to hand craft each and every rug so you know you’re getting a quality product.
The lowdown: it really works.
I’ve already washed our rug once since we received it and thrown it in the dryer another 2 times (I dislike seeing dirt clumps haha) and it comes out pristine every time. You throw it in the washer to get it nice and clean, then the dryer, and it comes out ready to lay flat and if there are any stragglers you just cut the loose strands (don’t pull!). This is also one of Tobi’s favorite spot to lay – I didn’t place him here.

After finding the rug we pulled together all of these other wonderful pieces to make an entry way that will be able to move with us as we go from home to home in the next few years!
The details of this entry way make me so happy – the wood tone of this mirror paired with the gold frame basically sings to me.
Y’all I LOVE the fact that our entry way is full of hand-crafted items.
The rug, the mirror, and the huge banner remind me how amazing people are.
People CREATE these things – dream them up, put them together, and send them to others to help make their house a home.
Fun fact: the banner was hung at our wedding as well.
The lyric is from one of the songs Eddie’s home church wrote that really helped him during his pursuit of me.
This serves as a great reminder every time we enter our home that our God is a faithful, magnificent, and big God who is always present and steadfast, and never ever fails.

So there you have it.
A small little glimpse into our Maine home. Now come have a mug of hot tea with me!

Wedding | Making a Big Statement

psst: This post is sponsored by Framebridge. They are awesome and sent me this amazing framed photo to use in our wedding and share with my readers!

From the start of figuring out what was important to display on our special day I knew that I wanted pictures of Eddie & I around the venue. I also knew that I wanted to have a few statement pieces that we would be able to use in our home after the wedding was finished. When we discussed what we wanted our main focus to be it was without a doubt the Lord and His faithfulness as our Savior and as a beacon in our relationship; as well as the celebration of Eddie & I joining together as one.

To say that this frame is large would be an understatement!
I can only imagine how hard it was to package and ship yet it was so well wrapped you probably could have thrown it down a flight of stairs and it wouldn’t have cracked. It came with a cute little canvas bag full of the hanging details and the back of the frame (totally spaced on taking a picture) is this beautiful pattern that is the full size of the frame, so classy. I’m a details person, and the gold frame with small grooves and the thick glass made my heart pitter patter. When I was going through all of the frame options I really struggled with picking out just one frame! Then I realized it would have been weird to have a frame with 4 different sides. 😉 Truth be told, the initial packaging was so great that I re-packaged it for the move to Maine too and will help when we continue to move to all the new places.

I can not wait to show y’all how beautiful this piece looked at our wedding!
We had it stationed by our guest book and gift table (that was flipped over into a hot chocolate bar) and received a lot of compliments on it. I fell in love with this piece so much that I ended up ordering one of my bridal portraits to be featured at the wedding too – same frame just a smaller size and I loved it just as much!
As a photographer I love seeing images in print. Having thousands of images within online albums is a great benefit for storage – but then having them printed and displayed in your home is just as needed. I can not begin to tell you how I love seeing pictures of my parents and my family bring such joy to my heart. Edie & I have already displayed this picture in our Maine home and you’ll be seeing it soon when I do room tours – but you can see a sneak peek below!
I love looking at it every morning and being reminded of our humble beginnings and that we are now husband & wife.

Sneak Peek Of Our Maine Home

It’s been almost two weeks since I moved to Maine.
Going from a three bedroom house to a small two bedroom apartment (that was already furnished with Eddie’s things) has been an interesting challenge. When packing up my home in Charleston I tried to be intentional about what I was bringing to our new home and what I was leaving behind for when we come back.
In the midst of all the chaos of boxes and piles of stuff I needed to find a small corner to put together something that was not only functional but pretty. Nightly I’ve found myself putting a small drop of this lavender oil on the base of my neck to help me still my thoughts. This newlywed season is a time for developing a foundation that will continue to strengthen us and propel us forward. Eddie & I are trying to implement a habit of prayer before we go to bed every night, his work schedule is so unpredictable that some mornings he is out of the door before 5am and doesn’t get home until 10pm. In order for us to connect and pray over each others days the only time we can really depend on is our evenings.

Evenings have never been super special to me. I am definitely more of a morning bird and find that I am naturally more intentional with my mornings than I ever have ben with my evenings. Now that i’m in a new city and I’m lacking friendships and scheduled events…my evenings have become much more calm and routine. I’m making it a point to find beauty in that routine and to really set my evenings up like I try to set my mornings – for success.

How do you unwind from your days?
Do you have any nightly routines you could share with me, because I would LOVE to hear them!

Wedding | For the love of gold

Shout out to MINTED for sponsoring this post.

The house has been rather quiet in the mornings.
I find myself slowly crossing off all of the to-do lists that encompass the few days before the wedding and the move.
Ordering our cake, finalizing the timeline, finally getting my music to the DJ…it all can be overwhelming.
I knew that in order to help work through some emotions and just have some fun I needed to start creating the vision of what I wanted the reception tables to look like.

When I think of my wedding day and what I want it to encompass I find myself drawn to four words: God-centered, whimsical, fun, and GOLD. Seriously, please do not skimp on my gold love affair. I also want things to be simple. Nothing super fancy or overly complicated – but classy, spunky, and refreshing.
As i unrolled the kraft & gold foil table runner I found myself cracking a huge grin. THIS is what my guests are going to see when they hang out in our reception. These table runners will be a part of the day that will forever change my life. As cheesy and insignificant as that may seem – it just made my heart lift a little bit. This is one less thing for me to make, to loose sleep over, to worry about – I was able to just log onto MINTED and order something that makes a huge impact without having to stress about it.
EASY PEASY…oh, and gold.

Speaking of stress and loosing sleep and worrying about details – I was able to cross off yet another important detail using MINTED. After looking through all of the amazing options for programs I found myself drawn to the delicate ampersand. Being able to just type in all of my information into pre-designated sections made it so easy on my frazzled brain and i may or may not have given a squeak of joy when i clicked submit. I also really liked the fact that i was able to select for proofing from the professionals, because let’s be honest, i’m a horrid speller and having other adults look over my words was like a nice warm hug.

So now that you’ve had a small look into a few wedding day details – what are some of the details you remember from your own wedding, or from the weddings of your friends? Oh and if you’re in the season of planning a wedding (or helping plan a wedding) I would definitely suggest checking with MINTED first – they have so many great details that can help lessen the stress!
